Cookie & Tracking Policy

This is a short page, on purpose — we do very little with cookies and tracking, and we want to be completely transparent about it. Apparens does not track you across the web, does not use advertising or third-party analytics, and does not build a profile of you. Here is exactly what we do and don’t do.

1. The only cookie we set

One cookie, and only after you sign in: a strictly-necessary session cookie that keeps you logged into the AI Control Index app. It is set by our own server, holds a signed session token (not your personal data), and the app cannot work without it. It is never used for tracking, advertising, or analytics.

Simply browsing the public website (apparens.nl) sets no cookies at all.

2. Anonymous measurement — only if you allow it

To improve the site we’d like to count anonymous page visits, but only after you agree on the banner. This measurement:

• is first-party — the data never leaves apparens.nl and is sent to no third party;
• uses a random id kept in your browser’s sessionStorage, which is deleted the moment you close the tab — it is not a cookie and does not persist;
• records only which page you viewed and whether the visit was engaged (a 5-second dwell or one interaction) — never your identity, never your activity on other sites;
• never runs if you Decline, and never runs if your browser sends a Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal — we treat GPC as an automatic “no”.

We use this only to understand which pages are useful, so we can make the site better. That is the entire purpose.

3. No third-party tracking. None.

We do not use Google Analytics, Meta/Facebook pixels, advertising networks, marketing cookies, cross-site trackers, device fingerprinting, or any third-party analytics. We do not sell, rent, or share data for advertising. There is nothing here watching you on someone else’s behalf.

4. Your choices

• The banner lets you Allow or Decline anonymous analytics. If you decline, we measure nothing.
• We honour Global Privacy Control automatically — no banner action needed.
• To change your choice later, clear this site’s data in your browser settings; the banner will ask again.
• Signing out clears the session cookie.
